03.10.2015 - Replify Travel Tips (Part 1)

View Replify related news. I've recently returned from a trip to Cyprus. For those of you who don't know, Cyprus is a little island in the Mediterranean sea with a lot of interesting history. In particular during the Roman era, a lot of metal was mined here. The metal was known as ?yprium (metal of Cyprus) and later shortened to ?uprum. We know this metal as copper which of course has been very important in the development of telecommunications and therefore WAN optimization.

01.27.2015 - To be seen, but not understood.

View Replify related news. After the terrible events that happened in Paris earlier this month the UK’s Prime Minister, David Cameron said: In our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which we cannot read? This utterance was made with the intention of intercepting terrorist communications to prevent further attacks. While his intentions may be honourable, it is obvious the Prime Minister didn’t run this past anyone with an ounce of technical know-how before uttering it.

01.07.2015 - Go Go Get ‘Em

View Replify related news. Those of you following tech news will have spotted the recent story about GoGo, a company that provides WiFi access on aeroplanes. They had been spotted decrypting customers' YouTube traffic. This is traffic that was requested over HTTPS and therefore that was supposed to be encrypted and free from the prying eyes of others.

12.31.2014 - Happy new year

View Replify related news. Just like a long stream of TCP traffic needs to be split up into small sized blocks for caching and de-deduplication purposes, the long continuum of time is traditionally split up into periods of 365 (or thereabouts) days called years to match the Earth's orbit around the sun.

09.23.2014 - Don’t wait in-line

View Replify related news. A question we are often asked when a customer is about to trial Replify Accelerator is whether or not it will impact their network for non-Accelerator users. For most scenarios, the answer is a definitive "No, if anything, it may improve things." The reason we are asked this is because a number of WAN optimization products work "in-line".

09.04.2014 - It’s someone else’s problem

View Replify related news. Long before starting work in Replify, I had a job where I would provide assistance to customers who were deploying Enterprise software solutions. In general, this was an interesting job, however it could be infuriating whenever customers would raise issues that couldn't reliably be reproduced.

08.19.2014 - Abandoning protocol

View Replify related news. As we've mentioned in a few recent blog posts, the Replify office has a great city centre location close to shops, bars, restaurants etc. At lunchtimes I like to stretch my legs and go out to get some lunch to take back to the office. While there are lots of options available, I tend to keep going back to the same places again and again.

08.04.2014 - Mon cache bien cuit, s’il vous plaît.

View Replify related news. When it comes to eating out, I love to peruse a menu and see all the interesting options available that aren't seen very often in restaurants close to home. e.g. tartare, snails, marrowbone, offal etc. When eating away from home, I feel I've missed out on an opportunity if I don't try any of the local cuisine. This trip was no exception and a meal on our final evening starting with marrowbone followed by seared kidneys kept me happy.
