09.15.2003 - Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 Update (818857)

View InternetExplorer related news. When you use Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to view a MIME type file attachment that is handled by a custom ActiveX control, it may take a long time to view the file, particularly if the file is very large. This behavior is different from what you experience in Internet Explorer 6.0 and earlier in the same scenario. Internet Explorer 6.0 and earlier versions create an instance of the ActiveX control before the file is downloaded to the cache. However, in Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, the file is downloaded to the cache immediately -- before an instance of the ActiveX control is created. For performance reasons, this behavior is not optimal, particularly when you view large files.

07.24.2003 - The Avalancher 2.47 - Surfing by veto

View General related news. Surfing by veto is so efficient and simple that one has to wonder why not all browsers do it. Basically, a browser will navigate EVERYWHERE unless you block some sites. On the contrary, this one is going NOWHERE because all sites are blocked until your veto is lifted. Any navigation to a new site (requested or not), must be confirmed like this: 1) Safe site: always open content without asking. 2) Dubious site: always block content without asking. 3) Ok to visit today, but re-confirm tomorrow. 4) Cancel this navigation. The purpose is to disclose all hidden navigation (usually to ads purveyor) to block them if needed. The REAL destination is also displayed, even if the address in the status bar is tricked. The result is that the more you surf, the smarter it becomes... confirmations tend to disappear, banner ads too, and most of all, nothing enters your computer without notice.
