This month is the Belfast Photo Festival and we were lucky enough at Replify to have a replica of a Delorean parked in the grounds of Belfast City Hall right outside our office window. This replica is covered in photographs of parts of the Delorean.

I've recently returned from a fairly eventful trip to China where I was a groomsman at a traditional Chinese wedding, ate lots of interesting food and experienced my first ever episode of gout. (This may be related to eating too much interesting food)

Replify, like the Mitsubishi Evos in the Circuit of Ireland Rally, they get your data to its destination super fast. Because you get there quickly, you free up the road for other users, cutting down on traffic congestion and bottle necks, allowing everyone else to go about their business.

We all are in agreement that finding a hotel with free wifi (and good breakfast) and being in a city where free wifi in cafe's is abundant. Otherwise it makes communicating back home for work and personal reasons very difficult - and we at Replify don't like that.

I've recently returned from a trip to Cyprus. For those of you who don't know, Cyprus is a little island in the Mediterranean sea with a lot of interesting history. In particular during the Roman era, a lot of metal was mined here. The metal was known as ?yprium (metal of Cyprus) and later shortened to ?uprum. We know this metal as copper which of course has been very important in the development of telecommunications and therefore WAN optimization.

After the terrible events that happened in Paris earlier this month the UK’s Prime Minister, David Cameron said:
In our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which we cannot read?
This utterance was made with the intention of intercepting terrorist communications to prevent further attacks. While his intentions may be honourable, it is obvious the Prime Minister didn’t run this past anyone with an ounce of technical know-how before uttering it.

Those of you following tech news will have spotted the recent story about GoGo, a company that provides WiFi access on aeroplanes. They had been spotted decrypting customers' YouTube traffic. This is traffic that was requested over HTTPS and therefore that was supposed to be encrypted and free from the prying eyes of others.

Just like a long stream of TCP traffic needs to be split up into small sized blocks for caching and de-deduplication purposes, the long continuum of time is traditionally split up into periods of 365 (or thereabouts) days called years to match the Earth's orbit around the sun.
