What is Pgpool-II?

Pgpool-II is a tool to add useful features to PostgreSQL, including:

pgvector 0.8.2 is now available. This release fixes a buffer overflow with parallel HNSW index builds (CVE-2026-3172), which can leak sensitive data from other relations or crash the database server. Users are encouraged to upgrade when possible.

The PostgreSQL Global Development Group has released an update to all supported versions of PostgreSQL, including 18.3, 17.9, 16.13, 15.17, and 14.22. This is an out-of-cycle release that fixes several regressions reported after the last update release.

PostgresCompare is pleased to announce the release of version 1.1.104, along with a summary of recent highlights from 1.1.103.

The PostgreSQL Global Development Group is planning for an out-of-cycle release on February 26, 2026 due to regressions introduced in the February 12, 2026 update release, which included releases 18.2, 17.8, 16.12, 15.16, and 14.21. This release will provide fixes for all supported versions (18.3, 17.9, 16.13, 15.17, 14.22). While these fixes may not impact all PostgreSQL users, the PostgreSQL Global Development Group wants to address these issues before the next scheduled release on May 14, 2026.

PostgreSQL community members Elizabeth Christensen, Devrim Gunduz, and Ryan Booz are proud to announce that they will be leading a full day in person training on March 5th, 2026, as part of the PostgreSQL track at the Southern California Linux Expo (SCaLE 23x). This training is aimed at users new to Postgres, those building skills in performance tuning and administration, or those transitioning from other database technologies. The program runs a full day with a 90 minute lunch and attendees can drop in/out as needed or depending on desired schedule. Registration for the SCaLE event includes the training event and many other great Postgres talks on the Postgres track running March 5th and 6th.

Pigsty v4.0, a batteries-included PostgreSQL distribution, is now available with a major infrastructure overhaul, PostgreSQL 18 readiness, and a return to the permissive Apache 2.0 license. This release brings 320 commits with significant improvements to observability, security, high availability, and Docker container support. See the v4.0 release blog for details.
