Many people have expressed concerns regarding disc rot. The concerns have become realized, now that legally purchased DVD Movies are deteriorating. Through scare tactics the population was convinced that VHS tapes were going to stop working after eight years. The MPAA, Motion Picture Association of America, should be required to provide free replacements for damaged DVD’s. If the MPAA had provided a legal method of backing up DVD’s, more individuals could afford to purchase more movie titles. (See also: Petition to require RIAA to replace damaged audio discs)
