Use Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Load Simulator (LoadSim) as a benchmarking tool to simulate the performance load of MAPI clients. LoadSim allows you to test how a server running Exchange 2003 responds to e-mail loads. To simulate the delivery of these messaging requests, you run LoadSim tests on client computers. These tests send multiple messaging requests to the Exchange server, thereby causing a mail load. LoadSim is a useful tool for administrators who are sizing servers and validating a deployment plan. Specifically, LoadSim helps you determine if each of your servers can handle the load to which they are intended to carry. Another use for LoadSim is to help validate the overall solution.

When a user tries to access a mailbox by using Outlook Web Access, HTTP requests into the clustering API by impersonating the logged-on user. However, there have been security changes in Windows Server 2003 SP1. The security restrictions for the APIs that perform remote registry access have been changed. Therefore, the logon attempt is not successful.

After you install and configure Microsoft Exchange Intelligent Message Filter on your Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 computer, e-mail messages that contain a computer virus or a worm program are not permanently deleted. Instead, these e-mail messages remain in the SMTP local delivery queue in Exchange 2003 until they time out.

This problem occurs when you run the OWA client on a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer. The Exchange Server 2003 OWA client uses a particular function call to determine whether the S/MIME control is installed. Windows XP SP2 restricts the components that are supported by this function call. Therefore, OWA cannot detect that the S/MIME component is installed.

This is a cross-site scripting and spoofing vulnerability. The cross-site scripting vulnerability could allow an attacker to convince a user to run a malicious script. If this malicious script is run, it would execute in the security context of the user. Attempts to exploit this vulnerability require user interaction. This vulnerability could allow an attacker access to any data on the Outlook Web Access server that was accessible to the individual user.

Use the Authoritative Restore tool to force a restored directory database to replicate to other servers after restoring from a backup. This tool allows you to restore one server (the server with the most recent pre-mistake backup) rather than all servers. With the Authoritative Restore tool, object versions and USNs can be advanced on all writable objects held by that directory so that the data held on the backup appears to be more recent than any copy held by other servers. You can receive assistance using this tool from Microsoft Product Support Services.
