It's taken a while but we finally have the recording of our presentation and demo at Internet World available for viewing.

In my last blog I referred to Riverbed's complaint that BlueCoat were abusing data to make their products look better than Riverbeds. Today I find that a potential customer has been told by Riverbed that we only accelerate a fraction of the applications they do, because we are a Virtual Appliance.

I reached a new decade age-wise recently, and I think that's a good excuse to sound off about something.
iPads. So full disclosure here - I don't like Apple. Or maybe I don't like the way other people do like Apple.

Finally got round to uploading the "Steamboat Willy" CLAN animation. If you haven't yet got your head around why the software approach to WAN optimization is so attractive, or how CLAN provides full acceleration without remote hardware, check it out.

I'm watching the traditional hardware-based WAN Optimization companies shuffling their feet and subtly repositioning themselves as software-based. It's fun to watch.

It's the morning of the third and final day of Internet World and so I have sore feet, a sore back, a sore throat and a degree of mental numbness. But that aside, it's been a great exhibition - we've had a chance to pitch the CLAN story both to individual booth visitors and at our session in the Connectivity theatre, and it has gone over very well

It's been a hectic fortnight (that's two weeks in American time) as we got organized for Internet World 2011 in London next week. We've put together a very cool CLAN demo to share with visitors to our stand, and we have a speaking slot at 4.30 on Wednesday in the Connectivity and Hosting stream.

So last Friday afternoon, the team here were able to pop open a couple of bottles of champagne as we put Replify Accelerator 3.6 to bed. We've taken a few days out for Easter, eaten a sickening number of chocolate eggs, and come back to formally release it.

Amazon are having a torrid time at the moment with their very public EC2outage. It's a reminder that when you put your eggs into the cloud basket it may rain on your picnic... er, sorry, lost my way in that metaphor.

I don't normally comment directly on competitors, especially their blogs. Everyone is entitled to talk positively about their own product and sing its praises, but Riverbed's most recent blog is impossible to ignore.

A few months ago I blogged "The Skier's guide to WAN Optimization". People seem to like that one. While out cycling with about 200 other people yesterday I noodled on the analogy between cycling in a peloton, and being part of a Replify CLAN cache-pool.

A week or so back I blogged on the relative merits of offload, versus acceleration. Both are good of course, but the value of offload has been underlined by the growing trend for carriers to introduce caps and charges for data

A few months ago I blogged about how I wanted someone to provide on-line cloud storage for all my digital assets, and in particular my music, well Amazon have taken the first step by announcing their cloud locker.

well, there's only one way to find out...FIGHT!
Ok apologies for invoking a TV show known only in the UK (Harry Hill's TV Burp) but it seemed a good way to frame the question.

A few months ago I asked whether it was possible for the promotion of cloud to get any any more overwhelming and relentless. Well clearly it was - coming back to my mailbox after a day on the road, and 80% of the bulk mail is invitations to read, listen to, join, buy or in some other way immerse my self in something cloudy.

We're in the final regression test cycles for Replify Accelerator 3.6. I've only one test cycle left, as I like to say when the HR manager isn't around to give me funny looks

I've been catching up on white papers, blogs and digests and a few things stand out.
Firstly, steady stream of data showing continued growth in teleworking. 5% of US Federal workers now telework, and the number is over 10% if you consider only those who are eligible to do it. Also 22% of Federal employees telework some of the time. No surprises there - people who telework are happier, more loyal, more flexible and tend to work more hours than expected rather than fewer (just don't ask how they're dressed, you probably don't want to know).

A few months ago I blogged on the phenomenon of "bufferbloat" which a growing number of network experts and commentators are flagging as a serious problem within network devices today.

EMA, an industry analyst, has just released their EMA WAN Optimization Radar Report I listened to their webex yesterday and I've read the report and it's pretty interesting.
