05.144.2003 - Microsoft Windows XP: Performance Is Slow After You Install RealNetworks RealOne Player (817143)

View Microsoft-WindowsXP related news. When you install RealNetworks RealOne Player on your computer, you may experience decreased computer performance. For example, it may take a longer time than expected for Windows to load when you start your computer.

Additionally, when you open Task Manager (press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager) and then click the Processes tab, you may find that the Evntsvc.exe process uses up to 100 percent of CPU resources.

Microsoft's recommended workaround of uninstalling RealOne Player seems a bit harsh. RealPlayer has always appears to slow down PC's. Disabling StartCenter use to resolve most slow down issues. We are unsure if this would also prevent this current problem from happening.
