As the market for Internet-connected devices continues to grow, Intel has announced a new family of chips based on Intel® Architecture - The Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor product line. This System-on-a-chip (SoC) technology integrates multiple components onto one single chip, saving board real estate and energy, and is ideal for robotics, storage systems, and Wi-Fi and WiMAX routers. Intel has a number of SoC chips planned for its traditional computing businesses and target growth areas across Consumer Electronics (CE), Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and others.
