The Folding@home project is the latest example in the expanding list of non-gaming applications for graphics processing units (GPU). By running the Folding@home client on an NVIDIA® GeForce® GPU, protein-folding simulations can be done 140 times faster than on some of today’s traditional CPUs.

Mexico's leading telecom service provider, Telmex, has donated 50,000 PCs based on the Intel-powered classmate PC. The computers will be part of Telmex's digital inclusion program for junior high school students in Mexico. Intel chairman Craig Barrett attended the event in which Carlos Slim Helú, chairman and CEO of Telmex announced the donation.
