As the market for Internet-connected devices continues to grow, Intel has announced a new family of chips based on Intel® Architecture - The Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor product line. This System-on-a-chip (SoC) technology integrates multiple components onto one single chip, saving board real estate and energy, and is ideal for robotics, storage systems, and Wi-Fi and WiMAX routers. Intel has a number of SoC chips planned for its traditional computing businesses and target growth areas across Consumer Electronics (CE), Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and others. Mexico's leading telecom service provider, Telmex, has donated 50,000 PCs based on the Intel-powered classmate PC. The computers will be part of Telmex's digital inclusion program for junior high school students in Mexico. Intel chairman Craig Barrett attended the event in which Carlos Slim Helú, chairman and CEO of Telmex announced the donation. The Intel-powered classmate PC is a mobile personal learning devices specifically design to enhance learning experience for students.
